Cardboard Tube Pumpkin - finished TP tube pumpkinHalloween is on its way! Here is a cute pumpkin craft that will cost next to nothing to make. It uses just a few household items including the cardboard tubes from inside toilet paper rolls. This is a great fall craft for all ages. Enjoy!

Total Time: 1 hour

Yield: 1 pumpkin

Supplies:

Cardboard Tube Pumpkin - supplies
 

Steps:

  1. Mark 3 of the cardboard tubes with your pencil, spaced at 3/4 inch segments.
  2. Cardboard Tube Pumpkin - mark three of the tubes at 3/4 inch segments
     
  3. Press down each tube gently and cut at the 3/4 inch markings so you have 18 rings.
  4. Cardboard Tube Pumpkin - press down gently and cut into 18 rings
     
  5. Paint the outsides of the rings orange.
  6. Cardboard Tube Pumpkin - paint the outside of the rings orange
     
  7. To give the pumpkin a nice textured look, use two shades of orange on one paintbrush and dab the cardboard tube.
  8. Cardboard Tube Pumpkin - to add a textured appearance dab with a second color

  9. Paint the insides of the tubes orange and let dry.
  10. Cardboard Tube Pumpkin - paint the insides orange and allow to dry
     
  11. Paint the outside of the 4th tube green, using the same two tone texture technique if desired.
  12. Cardboard Tube Pumpkin - paint the outside of the fourth tube green, you can also use the texture technique on it
     
  13. Paint the inside of the tube and let dry.
  14. Cardboard Tube Pumpkin - paint the inside and allow to dry
     
  15. When the orange rings are completely dry, place them on the piece of string.
  16. Cardboard Tube Pumpkin - when the orange rings are dry place on a piece of cord

  17. Pull rings around in a tight circle, tie the string in a knot, and cut the excess string.
  18. Cardboard Tube Pumpkin - pull into  a tight circle, tie, and cut off the extra string
     
  19. When the green tube is dry, take one side and make a few cuts 1/3 of the way down the tube on equal sides.
  20. Cardboard Tube Pumpkin - cut down about 1/3 of the way on the green tube
     
  21. Press the cuttings down into the center of the tube, then cut the edges so they're nicely rounded off.
  22. Cardboard Tube Pumpkin -fold the pieces down inside the tube
     
  23. Add a couple dots of glue under the top flap and press down to secure.
  24. Cardboard Tube Pumpkin - round off the corners on the one remaining on top, glue to make the stem

  25. Drop the stem into the middle of the pumpkin ring.
  26. Cardboard Tube Pumpkin - drop stem down inside the circle of the pumpkin
