FARE (Food Allergy Research and Education) is promoting the use of a Teal Pumpkin to identify your house as somewhere that kids with food allergies can get non-food treats. This lets kids with food allergies, lactose intolerance, or other reasons they can't eat traditional candy treats know that they can safely trick-or-treat at your home.
They suggest giving away non-food treats such as glow sticks, playing cards, crayons, bubbles, noisemakers, party favors, etc. This also helps cut down on the mountain of candy that most kids receive on Halloween and gives you a chance to give them something fun or useful.
To participate simply color a Jack-O-Lantern teal. You can decorate a real pumpkin or a plastic bucket or similar decoration.
Their website has additional ideas and printable signs and brochures you can distribute.
