Cat Nose and Ears for HalloweenNeed a quick and easy Halloween Costume? How about an easy cat nose and ears. Meow!

Supplies

Directions

Nose

  1. Cut one of the cups off the egg carton, make edges straight. Paint cup in your desired color (not black), let dry.
  2. Once dried use a Sharpie permanent marker to draw the tip of the nose onto the end of the egg carton cup.
  3. Use tack, safety pin or paper clip to poke holes into the side of the cup for the whiskers.
  4. Poke three holes into each side and thread a pipe cleaner through one hole and out another on the other side. Press the pipe cleaner down into the cup so it will not interfere with the nose. Do the same with two more pipe cleaners cut the ends off to make the whiskers the length you desire.
  5. Create one more hole on each side feed a piece of yarn through the each hole and tie a large knot on the inside end. You will use these two strings to tie the nose onto your head.

    Ears

Cut two squares out of the felt so it can be folded in half to make one triangle shaped ear. Fold the square diagonally over the head band and glue together and in place on the headband. Do the same with the second square of felt. Now you have the ears for your cat. You could also use polar fleece or fake fur for these.

My 9 year-old son wants to be a cat for Halloween. Any ideas on how I could cheaply make this costume? Do you think he will get teased?

A black jogging suit, stuff it with news paper to make him a big fat black cat. Add a head band with some ears added, make a tail add a puffy ball to the end, and don't forget to put a collar with some ID tags on him. You could also get him a rubber mouse. This is what Halloween is all about having fun dressing up.

If someone starts to make fun go with it make a joke, I use to walk through my neighborhood in cardboard ( I was a dice) on Halloween and till this day people still call me names. They are great memories.

You could do the same as suggested only use beige for the running suit. Affix several rows of fake fur around the hood making him a lion, Stuff a panty hose leg with batting and wire-wire so you can position it not to drag the ground- no one would dare make fun of the king of the jungle. Rent the Wizard of oz and take make-up tips from there.
