Spray paint can be expensive. When you have something simple to do with your kid and you need spray paint but you can't afford one, use a clean old toothbrush. Today, I'm teaching Halloween arts using the effect of stencils and a toothbrush.
Supplies:
- Halloween pattern cut outs/stencil
- clean old toothbrush
- water
- water colors
- black art paper as the base
Steps:
- Lay your stencil or cutouts over the black paper. I started with the moon and the witch. Use the open part where you cut the moon. Place the witch in the center.
- Dip the brush into the water, remove excess liquid, then into the white water color.
- Rub your thumb against the brush to spread/sprinkle paint over the stencil. Don't forget to cover the other parts of the paper.
- Carefully remove the stencil and it should look like this.
- Cover your first work (the moon). Add all the other figures, trees, bats, etc. Then sprinkle a combination and/or layers of color. I used white, blue, violet, and yellow (as the final layer). Color combinations add effect so it is important to think which ones go well together.
- Remove the figures and let dry for a short while.
