Making a Pumpkin Golf Game

Supplies:

• large foam pumpkin
• paper (for templates)
• pumpkin carving tools
• push pin
• pink felt
• tape
• pins
• scissors
• sewing machine
• plastic or foam golf balls
• putting golf club

Steps:

1. Create a template on a piece of paper. Tape it to the pumpkin and use a push pin to mark the outline of the face. Then remove the template. Note: I recommend making a mouth that goes to the bottom of the pumpkin and is somewhat flat along the bottom. (see photo in step 2)

 

 

 
2. Use pumpkin carving tools to carve out the face.

 

 
3. Create a tongue template, that fits inside the mouth and lays fairly flat. I chose to also add a rounded part at the other end to cover the inside, bottom part of the pumpkin.

4. Pin the template to the felt and cut it out.

 

 

 
5. Stitch down the center and around the entire outside of the tongue. Tip:To make stitching the center of the tongue easier, I measured to the center of the tongue, then taped a piece of paper to my sewing machine the same distance from the needle. Then line up the edge of the tongue with the paper and sew up the center of the tongue.

 

 
6. Place the round end of the tongue inside of the pumpkin's mouth and lay the tongue out in front, as shown below.

7. Place a golf ball at the end of the tongue and see if you can make a hole-in-one!

 

 

 
8. Optional: If you want, you can place a battery-operated tea light inside the jack-o-lantern and play in the dark!
