In South Africa, we do not really celebrate Halloween, but that does not mean that we do not enjoy dress-up parties! A few weeks ago I was invited to a birthday, and the theme was a "P-Party." I didn't want to hire a costume, as it would be quite expensive, and I also didn't want to go as the usual pirate, Pocahontas, or princess.
I decided to go as a "Pack of Cards." My mom made me a waistcoat from red and black fabric. Afterwards, I glued cards onto the waistcoat. I made earrings from the two Jokers, and a bracelet from a mixture of cards that I folded into triangular shapes. The outfit was completed by a red wig and face paint that I picked up at a costume shop.
All in all, the costs were less than R150 (approximately $20) and I certainly had a lot of fun!
