Halloween Tricks and Treats

Someone wrote me on another channel about using toilet paper tubes to fill with treats and give to the Tricker Treaters. These tubes were, of course, decorated in the Halloween style.

I am going to pull a trick on those treaters. I will use those same
toilet paper tubes, but wrap them up to celebrate all the other
holidays. Just drop them in their bags. I usually get less then 20
kids anyway so I believe I can do this. Imagine one tube decorated up for St. Patrick's Day, another with Easter Bunnies, lol. Oh and I think I might put a little something different in those tubes, maybe a toy, a few coins, a Halloween poem. Whatever I can come up with.

I better start saving those toilet paper tubes today.

I like the idea of the coins & poem - kids get way too much candy for their own good anyway

& as for the tubes being "dirty"
I wash my hands umpteen times a day whether they "need" it or not.
Just handeling boxes from the shed or basement makes me FEEL like they are poisoned so...

...there's this great invention called canned Lysol
;)

Well, if some of you are not overly thrilled on the toilet paper tube, perhaps you can use a paper towel tube and just cut it in half. I would even cut it in half prior to using the towels. You would use less and save money!!

Just a suggestion!

Though I am going to see if I can find out how long germs live on cardboard.

My mom used to do this project only with paper towel rolls, sometimes she would use the bathroom rolls, but they always had money or goodies that were pre-wrapped from the store. We never got SICK!!
My paper towel roll sits on a wooden roller stick, don't think there are many germs?I think you can get more germs from a cart/ basket at the store. The only thing I would make sure if candy is given that it's pre-wrapped from the store.Bet kids would like stickers, small or tiny puzzle & coloring books from the $1.00 stores. Have FUN!!! :)

It seems to me that the paper roll isn't touched until it is empty because it is covered with paper. It seems like contact with germs would be minimal, especially if you washed your hands before taking off the roll.

I'd think that spraying lightly with lysol or a bleach solution would take care of any germs or possibly putting them in a hot oven for a minute or two.

Also, germs do have a lifespan. I've never seen this as a concern.

I think the toilet paper tubes/paper towel tubes are a great idea. As far as the germs go, I'm sure they die out long before the kids get the tubes.
