Lee Taylor
Bronze Feedback Medal for All Time! 171 Feedbacks Cost: $0!
Time: 2+ hours total
Supplies
- old coconuts (or for other parts of the country you could use gourds)
- acrylic/latex paint (we just used paint we had in the garage left over from another project. Any color will do, plus you'll need black paint for the faces.)
- sticks or PVC pipes (anything that will stand up in the ground. We got old bamboo from a neighbor's yard)
- a drill
Instructions
- Drill large hole in bottom of coconut (or gourd) and drain out any liquid.
- Paint half the coconut/gourd with a base coat of any color paint.
- Let dry and then paint on the faces in black.
- Put coconut/gourd on a stick and press firmly in your yard.
Make as many as you want. It's easy and fun and the neighbors love it!

These are really cute! I don't know how many coconuts or how much bamboo I can rustle up here in MA, but I'll definitely try this with gourds. And it's easy enough to do with the family. Thanks for the idea!

Those awesome. I don't have any coconuts, so I plan to make them with styrofoam balls. Thanks for the idea
